  • Early book on Japanese Lacquer

Here is a link to possibly the earliest English Language "how to" book on Japanese Lacquer:

It was written by Gunji Koizumi who both introduced Judo to the UK and founded the famous Budokwai Dojo in London.

I had no idea that Koizumi san was so accomplished, the Wikipedia article states that he catalogued the Japanese lacquer in the Victoria and Albert Museum between the Wars.

Very interesting to read about his life in Britain. Do you think Mike Hickman-Smith knows this book?

I'm not sure, it seems to be available as a reprint from 2010.
