    So, the urushi is finished. And I finally found some really thin sheep skin with almost the right texture. Once Urushed it's very similar. So close now.

              I agree...it’s the nature of Urushi. I think knocking the gloss off with some very fine wire wool will do the trick.

                  Although you can mix things like tonoko with urushi, I actually like the glossy look, possibly because I once owned a full set of armour that came out of the original box almost as fresh as the day it was first made.
                  Love the work you have done so far, although purists will surely have further helpful advice. Urushi lacquer is magical stuff!
